The efficient management of both images and tags are critical time savers in any containerized environment. Portainer has nailed both with some essential added features for business users.
You can build images 'live', in real-time, using the Portainer UI. Just make sure the images don't use the local file copy/add feature.
Portainer also gives you the ability to pull and push images to both open and authenticated image repositories compliant with the Docker Registry specification.
You can locally tag images in Portainer to associate them with a remote repository, or add a version descriptor prior to pushing.
Portainer Business users have the added ability to browse remote image repositories to obtain a list of container images and corresponding tags. Tags can also be manipulated against images in a remote registry and images can be directly deleted from a remote repository.
Our goal is to make containers accessible to everyone by removing complexity though a simple to use GUI that does the heavy lifting for you.
